We are living in a new age in the film industry. The future is now. In the past an independent filmmaker was at the mercy of the major studios. Or, at the very least, the independent filmmaker would have to find a way to attach a high level director or "marketable" talent to the project for any chance of getting their movie funded and on the screen. Many filmmakers and screenwriters simply gave up after years of frustration.
Enter the internet, digital cameras, DVDs, affordable editing software and a whole new way of making movies was born. Now, quality movies can be made on a shoestring budget. The key word throughout is quality. This is the word that drives aumakua productions. We are only interested in aligning ourselves with quality people and projects. People who are just as passionate, dedicated, even obsessed with the art of filmmaking. Even though aumakua productions is new to the industry, we have established relationships with some very talented allies.
What is aumakua? Aumakua are the spirits of your ancestors and they can take many shapes and forms such as an owl, hawk, turtle, shark, etc. They can be there to warn you of danger or to show you their love and guidance. They also keep you focused on your goals. And, that is the motto of aumakua productions. "Stay focused." If it comes from aumakua productions you can depend on it being made with loving care for the craft of filmmaking.
