Synopsis

No one expected it. No one saw it coming. Overnight, British bands stormed in and took over. This British Invasion forever changed Rock 'n Roll and created a culture that will not fade away. They took our music, made it theirs and gave it back to us better than it was before. Today it's called classic rock. They Came To Play takes a loving look at these British artists from the 1960s and 1970s.

About The Project

There have been many fine documentaries made on the British bands and artists that not only influenced, but changed the face of music. Not just Rock 'n Roll, but pop, blues and folk as well. They Came To Play is a series that takes a different approach. It uniquely chronicles these British artists from the beginning all the way through the golden days of some of the greatest music ever written. They Came To Play runs the gamut from the biggest names of the era to the lesser known artists who still made a contribution. From the likes of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Queen to Long John Baldry, Camel, Be Bop Deluxe and everyone in between. Over 100 artists in all will be featured. They Came To Play also delves into the rare and little known aspects of this generation of artists and gives the audience a fresh perspective as to what made this era of music so very special.
